Show Compassion & Generosity this Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

It is part of the nonprofit Giving Tuesday organization, and the goal is to encourage people to share their time, talent, or treasure and inspire giving in all corners of the world.

It was first observed in 2012 when 92% of donations on Black Friday went to non-profits.

In fact, it was American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and author John P. Simmons who started this tradition of giving with the aim to offer an alternative to the consumerism associated with Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  Thus, the day after Thanksgiving was chosen as the day for this event because it is typically a slow day for retail sales.

The purpose of Giving Tuesday is to encourage people to think about what they can do for others, rather than what they can get from others. This includes volunteering time or money, donating food or clothing, or doing something kind for someone else.

It’s worth noting that nonprofits in the United States have raised more than $1.9 billion since 2012, and the number of people who donate, as well as those who simply choose to raise awareness with the hashtag #GivingTuesday on social media, is increasing every year.

Unsure how you can help? We prepared a few things you can buy and gift to a loved one in need or donate to the less fortunate at your local charity center or all the way across the pond. We’ll get it delivered for you in no time!

10-Pack Ready-to-Eat Kosher Meals, $90

10 packs of versatile pre-made canned food in green and red-detailed boxes

No person in the world deserves to experience hunger. That’s why food should be among your top choices this Giving Tuesday.

These fully cooked evening meals are simple to prepare and serve; their receiver should simply remove the packaging and cook for 2 minutes in the microwave, or heat for 7 to 10 minutes in boiling water.

To maintain freshness, taste, and texture, the meals are made with the finest ingredients before being sterilized and have no MSG or preservatives added.
The 10-pack meals have a long shelf life and no need for refrigeration. They can be kept dry, chilled, frozen, sealed, and packaged in a microwave-safe tray for a period of up to three years (if they’re taken care of properly).

“An outstanding find on Amazon! The KJ Ready to Eat Meals (MREs) are truly excellent and absolutely exceptional. They really exceed the quality of the food served in most restaurants. And the portions are very satisfying even for hungry adults. They arrived thoroughly sealed and meticulously wrapped, with an expiration date of about four years in the future. They’re MREs so they’ve been sterilized and don’t need to be refrigerated! Thank you KJ!” – Polyhistor

Chanasya and Healing 5-Piece Combo Set, $62

A 5-piece care package containing a cyan blanket, neck pillow, fuzzy socks, a foldable bag and an eye mask

Warmth should also be on top of your gifts/donations list this Giving Tuesday. Not only because it’s winter, but also because we’re facing major electricity shortages all over the world and many countries still haven’t figured out how to provide their citizens with something as essential as electricity.

For that purpose, we recommend a plushy winter set with a blanket that is incredibly soft and comfortable, a neck pillow, warm socks, a sleep mask, and a reusable tote bag.

The gift basket aims to deliver more than just warmth; it also aims to bring happiness, a smile, and a sense of love and security.

“My coworker absolutely loved this as a sympathy gift from our team at work- it is unique and thoughtful and encourages self-care, love it, and this is now the THIRD one I have sent to different family members and coworkers over the years! Highly recommend.” – Sarah Deanna

Winter Beanies Bulk (80 pieces), $92

A 5-piece care package containing a cyan blanket, neck pillow, fuzzy socks, a foldable bag and an eye mask

Speaking of warmth, these beanie hats, which are made of 80% acrylic and 20% polyester, are warm, soft, and colorful, and will provide their owners with long-lasting warmth and comfort.

The average head of each beanie measures 34 centimeters (13.4") in size, but it stretches to 62 centimeters (24.4") and can hold 18 centimeters (7.68") by 19.5" (7.68") while tiled.

They are elastic and pleasant to wear and provide additional warmth by trapping heat underneath.

The knitted hats have a simple design that will not only keep the head warm, but they will also make the wearer look stylish in the cold.

The pack comes with 80 pieces in different colors, so you can easily donate it to charity, divide the pieces and send them to families in need, or go outside and give them out to the homeless.

“My friend and I bought a pack for our big families and they turned out to be great fall gifts for a price that was next to nothing! They are a little on the thinner side but still keep the head warm and the colors are very vibrant and cool! A great buy!” – H. Collins
