MyUS 2022 Global Leaders Scholarship Recipient
Congratulations to Flora Giordani of Italy
Flora’s essay detailed her passion for music and her eye-opening experience studying harpsichord in Seville, Spain. She experienced many opportunities that she could not have in her home country, such as playing in the Andalusian Youth Baroque Orchestra and the Manuel de Falla courses of the Granada Festival, cooperating in the Cultural Management Department of the Seville Conservatory, and collaborating with the Fondo de Musica Tradicional of CSIC. Floria has found her place at Boston University College of Fine Arts and has since gained confidence in digital humanities resources and learning the representation of traditional Spanish music heritage.
By studying abroad, Flora has expanded her worldview, increased her capabilities and knowledge, and helped her become a more open-minded, independent, and fierce woman. “All this background, within the skill-sets learned at Seville Conservatory, prepared me to be a scrupulous and competent professional who can compete internationally at the highest level of academia, helping me to be admitted at BU. This has meant getting even closer to the person I want to be: a leading scholar who enriches the scientific community with her active engagement in the building and preservation of a universal, shared cultural capital,” says Flora.
Please join us in congratulating Flora and wishing her well in the studies that will help her become a well-rounded musicology researcher and professor.
