Michael Kors was born in August of 1959 on Long Island, NY. His mother was a model which she believes is why he started liking fashion at such a young age. He started designing clothes and dresses by the time he was 5 by working on some of his parents' clothes. When he moved to New York City in 1977 he started working in the fashion stores. It was not until 1981 when Kors started launching his own line which ended up not being successful due to his parent company going into bankruptcy. He got his big break by working with one of the most well known design houses named Celine. In 2003 he left Celine and put all of his work into his own line which started becoming successful. This line has gone on to be what we know current day Michael Kors as. He has designed clothes for some of the most famous individuals like Jennifer Lopez, Ciara, and Nicole Kidman.
